The Ballooning Experience

What it's like to fly in a hot air balloon

A ride in a hot air balloon is unlike any other experience. You float with the wind while the landscape slowly unfolds below you.

Every flight is its own adventure. The launch location, direction, landing place, and view are shaped by the weather and the wind that day.

Ballooning is as much about the journey as the destination. From preparing the balloon and watching the envelope come alive, to floating quietly with the wind and meeting the chase crew after landing, every flight tells a different story.

Our Story

Sharing a love of ballooning since 1974

Buzzard's Glory Balloon Company has been part of the ballooning community for more than five decades, sharing the adventure, friendships, competition, travel, and traditions of hot air ballooning.

Peter O. Stamats took his first balloon ride in 1974 and was hooked. He bought a balloon, took lessons, earned his pilot's license, and founded Buzzard's Glory Balloon Company to share his love of ballooning with others.

Peter later taught Susan to fly, and their balloons became a familiar sight floating together over Cedar Rapids. After Peter passed away in 2003, Susan continued the passion and tradition they had built together.
